Golden Sun Trademark Filing From Nintendo Emerges

Along with trademark filings for Rhythm Heaven, Mario Super Sluggers, and Wrecking Crew.

Golden Sun Dark Dawn

One of Nintnedo’s most underrated franchises is Golden Sun, the cult classic series of turn based JRPGs that they released along with Camelot on the Gameboy Advance over a decade ago. The original couple of games were followed up by Golden Sun: Dark Dawn on the Nintendo DS, an entry that was widely disliked by fans and critics alike, and which failed to move the needle in the market.

However, a new Golden Sun potentially could be coming. Nintendo has filed a trademark application for “Golden Sun”, alongside with applications for “Rhythm Heaven”, “Wrecking Crew”, and “Mario Super Sluggers”. Now remember, companies file trademark applications all the time (especially a company as zealously overprotective of its IP as Nintendo), so this doesn’t necessarily have to mean anything. But even if it is just a re-release of the original games, I think many fans would be greatly satisfied by that.

Maybe this could also be an announcement in tonight’s upcoming Nintendo Direct
