The demo for Gran Turismo 6 has officially launched in the PlayStation Store as a free download, depending on your region of course. So stay tuned and keep refreshing, because it’ll be there sooner or later. The sequel in Polyphony Digital’s racing simulator series will be heading to the PlayStation 3 (currently) and will be releasing in the fourth quarter of 2013.

But more importantly, GT Academy 2013 begins at 8:00 AM GMT/UTC. The contest will see competitions between racers across the world, with four lucky winners going on to become professional racers for Nissan.

As of now the PlayStation 4 version is under consideration but most of the feedback will come when we get our hands on the demo. Currently, Gran Turismo 6 features 33 tracks, 1200 cars, a new rendering engine featuring adaptive tessellation, and a new interface for quicker loading times. Stay tuned for more details, including updates on GT Academy 2013 and the competition going forward.
