Sony has officially announced Gran Turismo 6 earlier today at the 15th Anniversary Event. The game is confirmed to come out this holiday season for PlayStation 3 even though PlayStation 4 is launching around the same time.

Yamauchi spoke to IGN earlier today at the Gran Tursimo 6 reveal event at Silverstone race track, and this is what he had to say regarding the possibilities of the PlayStation 4 version for Gran Turismo 6.

“We actually do have a PlayStation 4 version in mind, but for this holiday season, we thought it would be best for users to release on PS3 for now.”

“I thought the best scenario would be to have the game come out, then to have new scenarios, new DLC and other updates. Once the players have thoroughly played out the system, if the PlayStation 4 version came out naturally, as part of that process, I think that would be the best scenario.”

If the game did come out on the PlayStation 4, then the players would “probably” be able to transfer over their saved progress said Yamauchi.
