Polyphony Digital’s Gran Turismo Sport, the racing game where you can earn an actual professional license, has been delayed to 2017.

Series creator Kazunori Yamauchi stated on the PlayStation Blog that this was in order to “perfect” the experience. “We do not want to compromise the experience in any way.”

Gran Turismo Sport will appear at various gaming events worldwide though so it’s not going into hiding until next year. Interestingly enough, a beta for Gran Turismo Sport was to take place this year but was cancelled to allow the full game to ship in that period. And now it’s been delayed from its original November 15th date to sometime next year.

Regardless, if a delay means a more polished experience then we’re all for it. In the meantime, racing fans will need to get their fix with Forza Horizon 3 and the recently released Asseto Corsa. What are your thoughts on Gran Turismo Sport’s delay? Let us know in the comments.
