Sony has confirmed that the next installment of Polyphony Digital’s long running, beloved racing sim franchise, will be launching on October 17 this year for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 4 Pro. The new entry in the series places an emphasis on persistent online competition.

That said, there will also be a single player campaign in the game- posting on the PlayStation Blog, series creator Kazunori Yamauchi promised that we can expect to hear more about it in the coming weeks and months, leading up to the game’s launch. “Between now and launch you can expect to hear a lot more from the GT team as we unveil more information on the many features included in Gran Turismo Sport, including the campaign mode, various creative tools, as well as a full reveal on all the cars and tracks you can look forward to racing on launch day,” he said.

Gran Turismo Sport will be available only on PS4. A brand new trailer for the game was made available today, too. Check it out for yourself, and let us know what you think.
