Grand Theft Auto 5 has been re-released a ridiculous amount of times by this point, but given how well the nearly decade-old game continues to sell, it’s not surprising that Rockstar is milking the open world behemoth as hard as it clearly is. Recently, the game launched natively for PS5 and Xbox Serie X/S, bringing some enhancements and content updates across both, its single player story and Grand Theft Auto Online.
Those changes and updates were not applied to the game’s PC version, but it seems like that might change soon. As spotted by @GTASeries on Twitter, the recent PS5 and Xbox Series X/S version of Grand Theft Auto 5 has also been rated for PC by the ESRB, suggesting that the aforementioned updates and changes might soon be coming to the game’s PC version as well.
Rockstar hasn’t made any such announcements, but it wouldn’t be surprising in the slightest to see the developer bringing the PC version on part with its current-gen console counterparts in terms of content and features. It also seems unlikely that that would come as a paid upgrade- though stranger things have happened, so it’s hard to be too confident.
Either way, Grand Theft Auto 6 is clearly still quite a ways off, so it doesn’t seem like Rockstar is going to let us forget about GTA 5’s enduring existence anytime soon. Whether or not that entails this purported PC upgrade remains to be seen.
