In tune with the release of the much anticipated, and now much loved, Grand Theft Auto 5, Rockstar has released a free app for iOS gamers, which contains a 100 page manual on the game.
There are a few interesting implications here: One, as our society becomes an increasingly more digital and virtual one, the release of a game’s manual exclusively via app may represent a step towards and recurring trend in gaming manuals: The death of the paper booklet.
Secondly, as of now this app has only been released of iOS on the Apple App Store. What of Android users who also play GTA? Will this remain an Apple exclusive app, or will android soon see a version? If not, could this possibly represent a connection between Rockstar and Apple?
