DrinkBox Studios’ critically acclaimed Guacamelee is getting a sequel with Guacamelee 2. Announced during Sony’s pre-Paris Games Week show, it was confirmed that the Metroidvania-style platformer was bound for the PS4. Check out the first trailer below.

Along with the same gorgeous art style, Guacamelee 2 will have the same Lucha Libre style combat with a few new abilities. One such new addition is the Chicken Shot which transforms the player into a chicken and dash away. Co-op is also confirmed but this time, there will be support for four players.

Guacamelee 2 is currently only confirmed for PS4 but it’s a pretty safe bet that the game will come to the Xbox One, PC and possibly Nintendo Switch. DrinkBox Studios only provided a release date of “soon-ish” which makes it seem like an early 2018 title. Even with the market full of Metroidvania titles, it doesn’t hurt to see our favourite Luchador Juan back in action.
