Hades 2_03

After announcing it just a few days ago, Supergiant Games’ Hades 2 has received its first early access patch. It makes Melinoë’s sprint “innately” faster with more responsive turning. As a result, abilities that enhance her sprint have been “re-scaled.”

As for her Dash, it now allows for exiting attack recovery animations more reliably. However, perhaps the best change is no longer having to equip a Gathering Tool to collect materials. Instead, after unlocking the tool, you can choose to Prioritize, causing its specific resources to appear while others will pop up less often.

The Swift Runner, unlocked from the Altar of Ashes, also makes one’s dash immediate, though you’re invulnerable for “slightly less time,” since it’s faster. The sprint speed bonus has also been re-scaled for this.

Check out some of the patch notes below and full details here (though beware of spoilers). Supergiant has another patch coming next and will then focus on the next big content update for Hades 2. Stay tuned in the meantime and check out our early access review.

Early Access Patch 1 Notes

General Gameplay

  • Your Sprint is innately faster and turning is more responsive; re-scaled abilities that boost this
  • You now can Dash out of many attack recovery animations more reliably
  • You now can gather from any resource point once you have unlocked the corresponding Gathering Tool; you now can Prioritize any available Tool in the Training Grounds to make its resources appear as often as before, while resources for Tools you do not Prioritize will appear far less often.

Altar of Ashes

  • The Swift Runner: Now also makes your Dash immediate (note the faster speed means you are invulnerable for very slightly less time); re-scaled Sprint speed bonus since Sprint is innately faster now

Level Design & Environments

  • It is easier to Dash across chasms in Oceanus

Menus & UI

  • Using a Well of Charon displays your current Gold without the need to check your Boon Info
  • The Grasp Upgrade Tutorial in the Altar of Ashes will repeat if ignored
  • Added Patch Notes option to the Main Menu (where you can read this!)
