Half Life 3: Could Valve be Developing a New Engine?

AKA We're still talking about Half Life 3?

There are multitudes of theories as to why Half Life 3 hasn’t been released yet. Of course, the main reason is that Valve has no clue where to take the franchise and as such, only has Half Life 3 in bits and pieces at this stage.

However, there’s another theory that’s been doing the rounds. It could be that in its current state, Valve doesn’t believe that current technology will bring the vision of Half Life 3 to life. It could be that Source 2 – or whatever the new engine ends up being called – is being tinkered with in order to full realize Half Life 3.

Of course, it could also be possible that Valve is just too busy with Steam, Steam Machines, SteamOS and so on to care about Half Life 3. But we’ll keep talking about it if it makes you feel better.
