There may be no title in the video gaming community that is the subject to more unfounded rumors than Half Life 3. Until recently, it had a real competitor in the form of Fallout 4, but with that game being just over a week away from being released. Half Life 3 is standing alone these days. The most recent unfounded rumors surrounding the Valve produced series started floating recently, when Valve’s Chet Faliszek was holding a talk about VR technology and the future of video games.
During a Q&A section of this talk, the VR developer was asked if Half-Life 3 would be revealed for the HTC Vive one of the VR headsets that are going to be hitting the market in the next few years. Faliszek’s reply was a simple one and should have been totally expected according to VRFocus. “We were kind of betting if that was going to be asked. No.” The fan asking the question then tried to trip the developer up, saying that Faliszek hadn’t answered his first question. The developer jokingly replied: “I said no!”
Fans who keep asking about when they can expect the next installment in this cult classic series have to be forgiven when you consider just how long they’ve been waiting. Half-Life 2 was released all the way back in 2007. That game and its predecessor were both popular enough among PC gamers that it seemed like it would be a no-brainer for Valve to make another one. So far, Valve has not agreed on that point.
