With the state of the world right now, sometimes you feel like you just need a drink, or two, or hell maybe about ten. It is what it is, and it seems like it was on someone’s mind at Valve. Half-Life: Alyx came out earlier in the year, and was one of the most in-depth VR titles to be released yet. It uses the VR tech in incredibly inventive ways. A new update isn’t necessarily VR focused, but it’s pretty cool.
In the newest update, the game has added bottles with liquid in them. That may sound pretty ordinary, but as you can see from the gif below, the liquid within it is simulated pretty incredibly. It’s definitely the best liquid I can recall seeing in a game. Developer Matthew Wilde’s tweet mentions that it was done with a new liquid shader he did working during the lockdown. Check it out below.
Half-Life: Alyx is available now for PC and is a VR-only title.
Spent a good chunk of lock-down doing this important work. Boozy liquid shader, now available in the latest update for Half-Life: Alyx pic.twitter.com/Iw9h98pmEg
