Halo 5 cover

Halo 5: Guardians, the fifth entry in Microsoft’s flagship franchise, is due out later this year. Microsoft and developer 343 Industries have been teasing the game for a long time now, focusing on building up the amazing, upcoming confrontation between Agent Locke and Master Chief, which will apparently form the crux of the story. And now, the new cover art, which you can see for yourself above, clearly seems to reflect that too, pitting the two men against each other, quite literally.

It also uses a pretty blue and orange opposition theme, which is something that game covers have not done in a very long time (ever since the beginning of the last generation, as a matter of fact).

Halo 5: Guardians will launch exclusively on Xbox One later this year. After the dual disasters of Halo 4 and Halo: The Master Chief Collection, this remains probably Microsoft and 343’s last chance to salvage the brand. Will they succeed in doing so? Stay tuned, and we’ll let you know how they have done.
