Halo 5‘s Warzone Firefight mode has received a new hotfix to fix a few issues and it may or may not be the answer to its overwhelming difficulty.
multiplayer designer David Ellis at 343 Industries talked about the growth of Warzone Firefight in a new blog post, noting that, “In general, we’re pleased with what we’ve seen regarding the conquering of those pesky AI foes. However, that data, alongside feedback gathered from a variety of internet locales and social media, helped us identify a few objectives that were not playing at a difficulty appropriate to the round where they exist.”
Each map has essentially had its objectives moved to a later round (to allow for higher REQs to be used) and some objectives, like “Kill Soldiers” have been reduced from 50 to 35. The good news is that this allows for players to ease into the difficulty better rather than immediately losing in Urban while defending the Forerunner Powercore.
The bad news is the hotfix doesn’t address the general tankiness and lethality of many AI enemies. Jackals that can easily melt players, overwhelming bosses (some impractical, like the Banshee Raiders that seemingly hang out in the exosphere) and so on are still an issue.
Ellis has noted that the hotfix brings “additional under the hood changes in this release that should improve your in-game experience” while paving the way for more updates. Stay tuned for more information and let us know what you think of the current Warzone Firefight in the comments.
