Halo: Campaign Evolved has been giving us a lot of information on what we can expect when it’s finally in our hands next month, and we must say that things are looking pretty good for the remake. Aside from the look at its new third-person perspective, and that excellent gameplay showcase, the developers have dropped a new look at how Skulls, Campaign Remix, and the game’s multiplayer are going to shape the experience.
The Skulls are a fascinating bunch, with three of them hidden on each of the game’s levels. They’re essentially modifiers that can let you tweak things to your liking, ranging from those that give you infinite ammo to others that let you play a very interesting version of “The Floor is Lava”. There are 42 of them in total, and we can only imagine what things might look like if you have them all active at once. We imagine most of you are going to pick a few favorites and run with them once you roll the credits on the campaign.
Campaign Remix is another great addition, immediately giving you a lot of replay value if you can’t get enough of the game. It alters enemy behaviour, adds randomized weapons, and even switches up enemy placements to make each run through a level feel fresh every time. Combining them with a few Skulls could make things even better if you’re looking for a more varied experience.
Of course, the option to bring up to three of your buddies along might be the star of the show, with online co-op and two-player local splitscreen options working well with cross-platform support across all available platforms. Check out the trailer below with none other than Sergeant Johnson explaining it all in his trademark style.
