After a stellar launchHalo Infinite has lost some of its momentum in recent weeks, with a relative lack of updates and new content having been met with dissatisfaction from a fair few fans- though 343 Industries is gearing up to inject a new lease of life in the shooter. Season 2 of its free-to-play multiplayer component will be called “Lone Wolves”, 343 Industries has revealed in a new update on Halo Waypoint. As previously known, it will go live on May 3.

Unsurprisingly, it looks like the next season is going to bring quite a bit of new content for players to dive into, including new modes, maps, cosmetics, playlist updates, balance changes, and more. This will also include more new narrative content, which will entail “a mix of cinematics, story-themed Events, Battle Pass items and more that embody the Lone Wolves theme.”

A free Lone Wolves armour core has been confirmed, in addition to a new “Fracture” armour core, while 343 Industries has also offered a glimpse at two new Spartans that will arrive with the next season in Spartan Sigrid Eklund and Spartan Hieu Dinh.

New modes that will arrive with Season 2: Lone Wolves include Last Spartan Standing, a free-for-all elimination mode, and Land Grab, about which no information has yet been revealed, while series mainstay and fan favourite King of the Hill will also make its return. Meanwhile, new maps are also coming, including “Breaker” for Big Team Battle and “Catalyst” for Arena.

“We will have a lot more to share about the Season 2 maps, modes, customization options, and narrative content in April, as our marketing and promotional campaign kicks into high gear,” 343 Industries says.

Concept art for the new maps, Fracture armour core, and two aforementioned Spartans has also been revealed. Check it out below. Meanwhile, 343 Industries has also confirmed that both campaign co-op and Forge have once again been hit with delays- read more on that through here.

Halo Infinite is available on Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, and PC.
