With the launch of Season 5 in Halo Infinite, developer 343 Industries has detailed its new Operations feature. According to the studio, Operations are similar to events, and will be free activities. Each Operation in Halo Infinite will feature 20 tiers of free unlockable rewards.

Operations in Halo Infinite are slated to run for between 4 and 6 weeks, and the reward tracks can only be earned in the period during which the Operation is active. The free Operation Pass goes away when the Operation comes to an end, and players won’t be able to unlock any more rewards.

Along with the 20 free rewards, Operations will also feature additional rewards for premium players. Operation Passes can be upgraded for 500 credits, unlocking a bonus customisation item. Upgrading the Operation Pass will also makes it so that it doesn’t expire, and provides bonus XP and an extra challenge slot during the Operation’s live window.

Once an Operation comes to an end, its Operation Pass can be purchased so that players can try to go for the cosmetic rewards offered by the pass. Progress in Operations is based on match XP, allowing players to pick their playlist of choice.

Along with the 500 credit cost of upgrading an Operation Pass, players can also choose to instead spend 2,000 credits to upgrade the pass and also instantly unlock all 20 reward tiers for the pass. Season 5 is slated to have two Operations, dubbed Combined Arms which starts on November 14, and Winter Contingency III, which starts on December 19.
