Hearthstone Is Not Coming to Nintendo Switch

Just play it on iPad.

Hearthstone, Blizzard’s perennially popular free to play collectible card game, will not be launching on Nintendo’s Switch, the publisher has confirmed in no uncertain terms, dashing the hopes of many. The game would have been ideally suited to the Switch, thanks to the Switch’s form factor, and built in touch screen controls. It looks like that is not to be, however.

Speaking in an interview with PowerUp!, Dean Ayala, one of the principal designers on the game,  confirmed that there are no plans to release the game on Nintendo’s hybrid. There was no ‘for now’ or any such conditional, either- it seems as though Blizzard has shut down the idea and possibility entirely.

Thankfully, it is still possible to play Hearthstone portably, because of excellent versions of the game available for iOS and Android tablets and smartphones, so it’s not a total loss. Still, I have to assume there are many who feel bummed by this news.
