HellBlade Developers, Ninja Theory Release Their Second Developer Diary

It's about time the Norse style gets some love that isn't related to Thor

The Development team working on Hellblade have released their second developers diary for the game titled, Development Diary 2: Art Inspiration. In the video blog members of the team discuss what they’ve discovered about the cultures of the artefacts and say that it was “a great reference gathering trip.

It’s worth noting that the developers aren’t replicating the objects that they seen and are referencing but are using them as a standard model to build upon. This is represented beautifully at the 1:43 mark of the video where we can see some sort of hell-beast get a very heavily inspired Norse headpiece that changes the entire look and feel of the creature.

Hellblade is currently being developed and published by Ninja Theory (not to be confused with Team Ninja) for the PlayStation 4. Being a person that loves art and it’s role in games, I have complete faith in their abilities to make an inspired yet original art style for their game. After all, they are the folks behind DMC: Devil May Cry.
