The upcoming Evolution Studios developed PlayStation 4 exclusive driving sim, DriveClub, seems to be getting a lot of attention for just how good it looks. Now, the myth and the legend that feed the hype have got official backing, with the technical art director Alex Perkins telling The Guardian that the game has environmental settings ‘rivaling PC first person shooters,” and, perhaps much less impressively, a day and night system that lights the game.

However, Perkins was insistent that even that will be a dramatic addition to the game, as the lighting, which is based on not just the time of the day, but also on weather and environmental lighting conditions, will apparently completely change the look and feel of the game, if he is to be believed.

They also clarified that the game is not a true racing sim at all, but is instead a halfway cross between racing sim and arcade racer; it might end up feeling more like Microsoft’s super successful Forza Horizon than anything else.

DriveClub launches with the PlayStation 4 later this year.
