We know Hideo Kojima usually takes 4-5 years, on average, to develop a game- so we didn’t really expect his newly reformed Kojima Productions to start churning out games immediately. We were expecting one maybe a couple of years from now.

But even that might be an estimate too optimistic. On the latest episode of his YouTube show Hideo Tube, Kojima discussed the early days for his new studio, pointing out that at this point in time, it’s not even fully staffed. Kojima is only now beginning to figure out what the studio will look like- the game is a distant gleam in his eyes right now.

“We still don’t have the staff, no building, just started the basic plan. I’m in the middle of figuring out how I want the studio to look. Please wait a bit longer,” he said.

‘A bit’ longer. But you can take your time, Kojima-san. You make gold when you do.
