Hogwarts Legacy Update Adds Arachnophobia Mode

Arachnophobia mode changes the appearances of all enemy spiders and turns spider corpses invisible, among other things.

Games love making players fight spiders that come in all kinds of shapes and sizes, but there, is of course, no shortage of people out there who have a substantial fear of the eight-legged arachnids. If you’re in that group and that fear stays with you (at least to some degree) when you’re playing a game, the recent trend of games like Grounded and Star Wars Jedi: Survivor adding optional Arachnophobia modes will have been much to your liking.

Another game is now following in their footsteps. Avalanche Software recently released a massive patch for its open world action RPG, and that update has also added an Arachnophobia mode toggle to the game. Enabling the toggle will change the appearances of all spider enemies in the game, turn all static spider corpses invisible, and reduce and remove spider skitters and screeches.

There are, of course, a lot of spider enemies in Hogwarts Legacy, so if that’s something that you’d rather not have to deal with, happily enough, there’s an option in the game to help alleviate that.

Hogwarts Legacy is currently available on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, Xbox One, and PC. It launches for the Nintendo Switch on July 25.
