It’s been a long wait for Team Cherry’s Hollow Knight: Silksong but as many assumed based on the sudden “special announcement” trailer, a release date is confirmed. The highly-anticipated Metroidvania launches on September 4th for Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, PS4, PS5, PC, Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2.

The trailer afforded some new gameplay while touting over 200 different enemy types and more than 40 legendary bosses. Players control Hornet, who’s been kidnapped and taken to the haunted kingdom of Pharloom. Naturally, she escapes, but instead of returning to Hallownest, she seeks to help Pharloom’s denizens.

While boasting high mobility and new techniques, Hornet can also make use of new Tools like the throwing knife-esque Straight Pin and the devastating Silkspear. Players will likely have a number of Tools to craft during their adventure, adding on to her skillset.

Hollow Knight: Silksong is currently playable at the Xbox and Nintendo booths at Gamescom until August 24th. Stay tuned for more details before its release.
