Hollow Knight Silksong

There’s been quite the commotion about Team Cherry’s Hollow Knight: Silksong due to its Xbox Store page and ESRB rating suddenly going live. If those aren’t enough to indicate an impending announcement, the highly anticipated Metroidvania has been rated “12+” in South Korea.

Interestingly, the Game Rating and Administration Committee (GRAC) rated it on February 20th, 2024. Combined with the more recent ESRB listing, something may be coming up. Whether it’s a release date, new gameplay or just a reminder that the game exists remains to be seen.

Originally planned as DLC for Hollow Knight, Silksong was announced in February 2019 as a standalone game for the Nintendo Switch and PC. It features a new kingdom with Hornet as the protagonist, several new enemy types, bosses, side quests and more. Over time, it’s been confirmed for PS4, PS5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S, even launching day one on Game Pass.

While initially touted by Microsoft as launching by June 2023, it was delayed beyond that. Team Cherry hasn’t confirmed an official release date, but with all these ratings, you never know.
