Homefront The Revolution (7)

Homefront: The Revolution is finally out, and it doesn’t look like its long development time did it any good- at least, not as far as the stability of the PC version goes. The PC version of the game seems to be a mess, with loads of issues that interrupt consistent play over a long period of time.

That is what we are here for- if you bought Homefront: The Revolution on PC, and run into any of these issues, this guide will probably help you figure out what to do.

First, the official requirements:

MINIMUM:

    • OS: Windows 7/8/10 all x64
    • Processor: Intel Core i5-4570T (2.9 GHz) or equivalent or AMD FX-6100 (3.3 GHz) or equivalent
    • Memory: 6144 MB RAM
    • Graphics: GeForce GTX 560 TI (1024 MB) or equivalent or Radeon R7 260X (2048 MB) or equivalent
    • Storage: 38 GB available space

RECOMMENDED:

    • OS: Windows 7/8/10 all x64
    • Processor: Intel Core i5-2500K (3.3 GHz) or equivalent or AMD FX-8320 (3.5 GHz) or equivalent
    • Memory: 8192 MB RAM
    • Graphics: GeForce GTX 760 (2048 MB) or equivalent or Radeon HD 7870 (2048 MB) or equivalent
    • Storage: 38 GB available space

Please be advised that the following methods are to be used at the sole discretion of the platform owner. GamingBolt or its staff members take no responsibility for problems that may arise or issues that may occur from trying the below. Always remember that official support is always the best support.

LAG AND LOW FRAMERATES

Lag and low framerates occur in Homefront: The Revolution owing to the game’s incompatibility with SLI. However, even though SLI is not officially supported, you can still use a workaround to get it running, and use that to fix the framerate issues.

This fix is only for owners of Nvidia GPUs.

  • Download the Nvidia Inspector
  • Copy the SLI compatibility bits from the Ryse: Son Of Rome section to the Homefront: The Revolution one. This is for SLI compatibility bits (DX10 + DX11) and the value in question is “0x080040F5.”

GAME STARTUP ISSUES

Of course, you can only run into other problems while running if the game if you get the game running in the first place- and indeed, a lot of players are reporting that the game gives a ‘Missing Executable’ error if they try to start it up from Steam. If you run into this problem, try one of the following fixes:

  • Download the newest update for the game OR;
  • Close Steam, then go to programs/steam. Find the appcache file and delete it. Restart your computer, and before restarting Steam, disable all of firewalls, antivirus programs, and anything else that could cause a conflict with the running of the game. Then start Steam, activate everything you deactivated, and run the game- it should run now.

CRASHES

  • Download Driver Scanner.
  • Perform a complete PC scan using the Driver Scanner- and then from the Results page, update all outdated drivers.

NO SOUND

  • Go to the Control Panel
  • Go to Sound, and then configure and set up 2.1 stereo.

Note: Given that the wide range of PC hardware out there, the fixes mentioned here may or may not work for you. But it’s worth giving them a shot since these have worked for players who own the PC version of Homefront The Revolution.
