Uncharted 2: Among Thieves

Power used:Close to 100% ( I am dwindling)

GamingBolt’s game of the year 2009, and for that matter, most websites’ Game of the year, Among Thieves blew lids off as far visual and sound boundaries were concerned. Just like Final Fantasy XIII, the game claimed to use nearly 100% of PlayStation 3’s power. Naughty Dog co-boss Christophe Balestra said:

“On PlayStation 3 for our first game, we were using probably only 30 percent of the power of the Cell, and this time we’re getting close to 100 percent of using the power of the PS3″

Killzone 3

Power:  expected to use: 100%

Just read this quote from Hermen Hulst, managing director of Killzone developer Guerilla Games:

“But I think we’re pushing 100 percent right now”

Motorstorm

Power Used: Between 15-20%

Motorstorm is a very under rated game according to me. Considering the fact that it utilized only 15-20% of the PlayStation 3 power and still played and looked amazingly well. Here is what Scott Kirkland, technical director of Evolution Studios had to say:

“MotorStorm only uses between 15 and 20 percent of available SPU resource, so we’re aiming to achieve a 5 fold increase in SPU performance, which should allow us to do some awesome stuff!”

inFamous

Power used: 30%

One of the best super hero games of 2009, inFamous used a very low 30% of the total PS3 power. Sucker Punch cofounder and producer Brian Fleming says:

“For us, the most exciting part of the PS3 has been the cell processor, the SPUs specifically. In our highest density scenes right now, we are currently using about 30 percent of the SPUs’ capabilities–with the SPUs doing lots of heavy lifting for us on rendering, visibility, particle systems, skinning, animation blending, and so on…this with scores of pedestrians, cars, fires, etc., all going on.”
