IKARO Will Not Die

FuturLab’s next project is, surprisingly, not Powerwash Simulator-related. IKARO Will Not Die was revealed for Xbox Series X/S and PC during the Xbox Partner Preview, though a release date wasn’t announced. It’s essentially a spiritual successor to Velocity, FuturLab’s fast-paced shoot ’em up series. Check out the first trailer below.

As a fully 3D arcade title, IKARO Will Not Die is all about momentum, with players surfing and battling through over-the-top encounters. The protagonist can dash and spin through mid-air while utilizing a grapple to circle and attack enemies. There are different sci-fi areas to explore and abilities relying on gravity manipulation. Additional details are needed, but the title seemingly has a rogue-lite structure and an in-game social media component.

In a press release, FuturLab CEO Kirsty Rigden said, “We’re thrilled to finally be able to share a sneak peek at our upcoming game, IKARO Will Not Die. As a spiritual successor to Velocity, fans will recognize motifs from the series, but with the style and sophistication of the combat and traversal systems dialed up times 1,000. We can’t wait to share more further down the line.”

Stay tuned for updates in the coming months. In the meantime, check out Velocity 2X, which is available for Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, PS4 and PC.
