Immortal Redneck Dev: PS4 Pro Dev Tools Are Awesome, Hopes Xbox Scorpio Tools Will Allow Devs To Squeeze Its Power

The kind of thing that is necessary to ensure PS4 Pro support.

Mark Cerny once said that it should be extremely easy to adapt PS4 games to the PS4 Pro. It looks like a lot of developers agree with that sentiment. In an exclusive interview with GamingBolt, Guillermo Andrades, Creative Director at CremaGames, currently working on Immortal Redneck, expressed enthusiasm for just how well developed the development environment for the PS4 Pro is, expressing hope that the development environment for the Xbox Scorpio is similar.

“PS4 Pro is awesome and the development tools are even more awesome,” he said. “It’s a breeze adapting games for it and testing them in the devkits. We’re really excited to support PS4/PS4 Pro. We haven’t tested Scorpio yet, but I hope the development tools also allows you to easily adapt the game and to squeeze all the power it has.

“For us as developers both approaches are fine, we’re just thrilled to make our game available in more platforms and with more customization in each one,” he added, when asked about the differences in approach between the relatively more conservative PS4 Pro, and the dramatic overhaul that is the Xbox One Scorpio.

He also mentioned how the development team is looking into exploiting the resources on the PS4 Pro. “We’re aiming at 1080p@60fps in the non-pro PS4 so we will have a lot of margin to improve the game on the PS4 Pro. We want to up the resolution (4K native or scaled) while keeping the 60fps and also put some custom post effects to improve how the game looks.”

It is good to see that Sony has made development for the PS4 Pro so easy. Going forward, that is going to be what will ensure widespread support for the system from most major games and developers.
