Half Life episode one is the first Half-Life game in which Gordon does not start on a train.

I’m not sure if many players noticed this, but Gordon Freeman always starts out his journeys on a train from Half Life to Half Life 2 (Though in Half Life Episode 2 he was found on de-railed train, I’m sure it counts). However in Episode one, Gordon finds himself buried under rubble and Dog finds him and digs him out, much to Alyx’s surprise and relief.
