After the Events of Half Life 2 there was a 7 Hour War
Not much is explained between Half Life and Half Life 2 and the player is left perplexed when seeing Earth under the Combine’s control. However the story goes is; that after Gordon destroyed the Nihilanth, an inter-dimensional rift occurred and this allowed the Combines forces to pour in, and annihilate Earth’s defense in the process in just less than 7 hours. However Dr Breen negotiated and surrendered Earth, and was made the Earths Administrator. Surprisingly there is no footage of this anywhere, but there are news paper clipping and is also explained by Eli Vance.
