Radio the Universe:
This futuristic, dystopian themed game from 6e6e6e is a beautifully classic looking game that almost looks like it belongs on the SNES or Genesis. Radio the Universe seems to have a very somber and depressing theme, yet coupled with a wonderful art direction and 2D platformer gaming experience makes this a game to watch. It had a very successful kickstarter, more than reaching it’s stretch goal and has garnered a lot of support. The developer has also promised a bunch of hand drawn cut scenes for in between missions or portions where some quality story telling is needed.
This sort of commitment to a game is something worth waiting for. Another wonderful touch is a gritty and haunted female protagonist, a nice addition that we don’t see much of in gaming. While the character’s sprite is vividly yellow and cute looking in her raincoat the game sounds like it’s going to be dealing with a very adult set of themes. If you’re interested in a 2D action platformer that isn’t from the same cut as others, but still offers that classic and addictive style of fast-paced gameplay, Radio the Universe will be ready to broadcast to you soon.
