Irrational Games announces 1999 mode for Bioshock Infinite

Posted By | On 19th, Jan. 2012

Do you like challenges? Then Irrational Games has something in stored for you. It’s called 1999 mode. Now you may wonder what is that – well it’s a hardcore mode where you have to be really careful of your actions.

Whatever decisions you take could have adverse repercussions later on in the game. You need to extract everything from the resources available to you to just survive and eventually beat the mode.

The mode was announced on Irrational’s blog, and they have explained it in more detail over there.

“We want to give our oldest and most committed fans an option to go back to our roots,” said Ken Levine. “In 1999 Mode, gamers face more of the permanent consequences of their gameplay decisions.

In BioShock Infinite, gamers will have to sweat out the results of their actions. In addition, 1999 Mode will demand that players pick specializations, and focus on them.”

The game will be released on the PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 later this year.
