Bioshock Infinite is a first person shooter developed by Irrational Games and is the third main instalment in the Bioshock franchise. Unlike its predecessors, the game does not take place in the underwater city of Rapture, but is instead set in the fictional airborne steampunk city-state of Columbia.
Columbia is a floating city representing American exceptionalism, now racked with civil war and jingoism. Infinite is also the first game in the series chronology, taking place in 1912, nearly 50 years before the first BioShock game.
