Bioshock Infinite’s Floating City Might Just be a Modern Day Icarus

Irrational showcases how the city came to be - and where it might be going.

In a new video titled “Columia: A Modern Day Icarus?”, Irrational gives us a look into the basic origins of the city and a turn of events that could explain the chaos running rampant in the upcoming Bioshock: Infinite.

Styled as an education/history video narrated by Alistar Bloom, we learn that the Columbia used to be a source of pride for the United States. However, an intervention in China and refusal to return to US soil preceding its disappearance raise questions of its current status.

Even more interestingly, parts of the city appear to be falling from the sky. Originally titled “Project Icarus”, and with all the progressive tones surrounding its origins, perhaps it’s only a matter of time before the founders fly too close to the sun?

We’ll know when Bioshock: Infinite releases on March 26th for Xbox 360, PS3 and PC as to what exactly is going on and how our heroes Booker DeWitt and Elizabeth are involved.
