The latest Media Create sales charts are in (via Gematsu), and reveal that Pikmin 3 had an exceptionally strong debut last week in Japan, selling 92,720 units in the process. However, it – along with New Super Luigi U, which debuted at fifth place with 24,881 units sold – managed to drive sales up for the Wii U significantly. This lead to the Wii U selling 22,199 units this week which is more than twice the number of the previous week’s sales (8,251 units).

However, it was still only in second place as the Nintendo 3DS XL stayed on top this week 29,594 units sold this week, barely any less than the previous week’s. The PlayStation Vita is in at third position with 15,662 units sold which is down from the previous week’s total 20,776 units. Nonetheless, it’s improved over past standings.

Meanwhile, the regular 3DS and Sony PlayStation 3 took fourth and fifth places respectively with 13,841 and 12,698 units sold this week.
