Jenova Chen: TGC’s next game will “bring people closer” together like Journey

Posted By | On 08th, May. 2012

Journey was a commercial and a critical success, and what it did was bring unknown people together to face obstacles — and this is exactly the quality Jenova Chen, co-founder of Thatgamecompany wants in his next game.

“It’s nice to hear that a game can bring people closer together and create more trust. I want all [my] future games to have that kind of quality,” he said to GamesIndustry International.

It looks like they are pretty popular now after the success of Journey, and after finishing the 3-game contract with Sony they look forward to more greener pastures considering the offers they’ve been receiving.

“When we came out of school it was a Cinderella story. At the time we were nobodies, students coming out of school.

“Today it’s more like all these people saying, ‘We want to work with you’, and everybody’s promising the best thing, but you really have to talk with them, meet them, to get an idea of what these people really are.”
