After several rumors about the official release date, Sony has finally announced that Journey will be coming to the PS4 on July 21. Originally, there was some talk that the game might actually be able to arrive in June but those rumors ended when the month came and went. Turns out those people expecting the game were only off by a month. Sony put the announcement on its official website, along with a launch trailer and several breathtaking screenshots.

Journey isn’t new to the Sony universe. The game first launched on the PS3 back in 2012. Now the company is teaming up with developer thatgamecompany to bring a port to the PS4 that really shows off all the graphics that make this game so special. As the company said in its announcement, “If you have yet to discover its wonders, or desire to soar above the ruins and glide across the sands once again, this is the perfect time.” The company announced that the best news of all for fans of the game is that it will support cross-buy. That means that if people have already purchased a copy for their PS3, they will be able to download it for free on the PS4.

In addition to the announcement of the game, Sony is also starting a kind of social media campaign based on the title. The company wants people to record “What Your Journey Experience Meant To You” with the hashtag #OurJourney. It will then post some of its favorites here.

Social aspects aside, what are your thoughts on the trailer and release date? Let us know in the comments.
