Just Cause 2 was already impressive

Avalanche Studios and Square Enix definitely do not plan on letting the Just Cause franchise rest easy, seeing as it has so much potential for success. Recent rumours and a job ad have presented some possible details for the inevitable sequel.

The job ad describes Avalanche looking to hire people to work on their “next open world game”, which has been described as “an over-the-top vehicle experience”. Just Cause games are nothing short of over-the-top, and vehicles are a major part of the experience, so this does sound like JC3. Add to that the fact that Avalanche and Square have confirmed that they are, indeed, working together, and it fits even better.

However, here’s a twist- the job ad says the developers are working for both, current gen and next gen platforms. “Avalanche Studios is developing for both current and next gen platforms,” states the ad. Possibly, Just Case 3 will be released on the Wii U as well? Or maybe as a launch title for the PS4 and/or Xbox 720.

The job ad goes on to describe the job and the responsibilities of candidates. “As a Vehicle Designer at Avalanche Studios, your work will be focused around what you like to do most: design and tune many different vehicles which form the backbone of our next open world game – that’s a variety of vehicles which extend far beyond traditional cars.”

Destruction

Sounds a lot like Just Cause. Aerial travel was a major part of Just Cause 2’s gameplay, most of you might remember.

“Our plan is to deliver stunning vehicles in terms of handling, physics simulation and destruction rendition. Something no open world to date has yet achieved,” the ad says.

Whoever gets the job will also be responsible for “ensuring we’re constantly aligned to the promise of delivering an over-the-top vehicle experience. To this extent, you’re also expected to drive an on-going competitive analysis to assess the quality and scope of the player experience against that of the competition.”

Definitely sounds like Just Cause 3 to me. Between this, GTA 5 and Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zero, open world fans are going to have a great time next year.

Of course, this is all speculation, and nothing is confirmed yet, even though it all points towards the possibility of Just Cause 3.
