Sony had earlier sued Kevin Butler–a character that they created for promoting the PlayStation brand–and due to a breach in contract due to Jerry Lambert advertising the Wii for Bridgestone tyres.

It has now been revealed that Lambert has agreed to not promoting video games for two years, which means you won’t really see him online. His online avatar known as Kevin Butler is a Sony intellectual property and without their permission no one is supposed to use them.’

He has also mentioned that he was wrong and the contract has mentioned that he should not be working on other ads. This has been resolved amicably without heavy penalties, and the only thing here is that Kevin Butler as a character cannot be revived.

It’s not clear what will happen to the character and whether Sony will be using another guy to play his role but one thing is for certain, Kevin Butler campaign saved the PS3 along with the price drop.

Thanks, Eurogamer.
