Killzone: Mercenary Concept Art Showcases Diverse Environments

Neither snow, nor rain, nor post-apocalyptic landscapes...

There’s not a lot known about the upcoming Killzone: Mercenary, aside from the fact that it’s being developed by Guerrilla Cambridge and heading to Playstation Vita. Honestly, when the game was first revealed at GamesCom 2012, it was amazing to see a Killzone 3-engine game running on the handheld.

Guerrilla Cambridge has since released new details about the game, and promises more in the coming days. Till then, check out this collection of concept art of the environments you’ll be exploring when Mercenary releases on September 17th.

Perhaps the most intriguing part of Killzone: Mercenary is the new level of freedom being offered. You no longer simply function as part of the ISA or Helghast but can fight for both sides, taking up different contracts and customizing their loadouts to successfully complete missions.

Successful missions earn players cash and equipment, though we suspect an over-arching story might be available.

If the game can feature a mode for creating custom missions a la Hitman: Absolution’s Contracts mode, that too in a persistent online environment…well, a man can dream, can’t he?
