Like every RPG, Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 has an inventory system with an encumbrance mechanic or carry capacity limit. Starting off fairly low at around 100 pounds, this limit can be raised to be close to 400 pounds, through various stats and perks. This is an important factor, as being encumbered severely affects mobility, from sprinting to mounting a horse, and even restricting fast travel.

Raise The Strength Stat
Increasing the Strength statistic is the most straight-forward upgrade that can be made to encumbrance. This can be accomplished by attempting to walk around while being severely over-encumbered. For maximum efficiency, do this while simultaneously at low health for the added benefit of raising Vitality as well. Combat is another intense workout avenue that can contribute to improving Strength, each level of which adds 10 pounds to the maximum carry weight. Finally, there are 4 volumes of The Strength of the Knight to be found and read, which will help raise the Strength stat.
Perks
There are multiple Perks that can provide direct increases to encumbrance:
- Well-Built, under Main Level, unlocked at Level 16
- As your Strength increases, your carrying capacity increases faster. For each level of strength, you gain 12 points of carrying capacity instead of the usual 10.
- Hard-Working Lad, under Strength, unlocked at Strength 6
- If you carry a sack or even a dead or unconscious body, the weight only counts as a half. Therefore, they will hardly burden you, and carrying them will no longer cost you extra stamina.
- Additionally, your carrying capacity is permanently increased by 8 pounds.
- Pack Mule, under Strength, unlocked at Strength 8
- Your carrying capacity is increased by 12 pounds.
- Strong as a Bull, under Strength, unlocked at Strength 12
- Your carrying capacity will be increased by 20 pounds.
Other perks with situational increases to stats which can raise carry capacity:
- Burgher, under Main Level, unlocked at Level 10
- In towns, villages and their surrounding areas, you gain a +1 bonus to Strength, Ability, Vitality, and Speech.
- Local Hero, under Main Level, unlocked at Level 10
- If you are in an area where you have a good reputation (60 or more), you gain a +2 bonus to Strength, Agility, Vitality, and Speech.
- Night Crawler, under Main Level, unlocked at Level 12
- At night, you have a +2 bonus to Strength, Agility, and Vitality, and a +3 bonus to Stealth.
- Warmonger, under Main Level, unlocked at Level 14
- After the end of the fight, you gain a +2 bonus to Strength, Agility, and Combat skills. The effect lasts for 6 game hours. To renew it, you must enter combat again.
Consumables
Certain items can be consumed for temporary buffs to stats including Strength, which consequently increase carry capacity as well. This can be helpful to make a quick sprint to a merchant or chest while over-encumbered.
Storage
Be sure to store away as much as possible in the player-owned chests scattered around the world, the contents of which are accessible across chests regardless of their individual location, but unfortunately not while trading with merchants.
Mount
Your horse can also be a large cache for items, but this is dependent on the individual horse and its equipment.
