Kingdom Hearts 3, Final Fantasy 7 Remakes And Persona 5 Ranked In Recent Famitsu List

For the week ending 1st May 2016.

Another week, another weekly ranking of the most anticipated games in Japan by the magazine Famitsu. And this week, as is the case with all weeks, Final Fantasy 15 has topped the chart, coming in at a convincing first place. Final Fantasy in general seems to be pretty anticipated by Japanese gamers at large, as Final Fantasy 7 Remake is in second place.

A distant third place goes to Persona 5, which is a bit worrying, because the game now finally has a release date which is rapidly approaching- will Persona 5 be able to live up to the enormous expectations that it has after its protracted development cycle? Or will it be lost in the noise when Final Fantasy 15 releases just 15 days later?

Elsewhere, both Dragon Quest 11 and Pokemon Sun/Moon are doing well- the 3DS version of Dragon Quest is fourth place, while the PS4 version gets fifth place. Pokemon comes in at seventh place, and we can probably expect it to climb in the rankings as we approach its November release.

One thing is for sure- with so many big name games releasing in Japan this year, if the trend of market decline is still not reversed, then the Japanese market is definitively in some pretty big trouble.
