With Final Fantasy 15 now finally out, all eyes are on Square Enix’s next big game- Kingdom Hearts 3. As of right now, we have no clue when Kingdom Hearts 3 will finally release, or what the final game will entail, but the upcoming Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8 might hold some clues about features players can expect from the third numbered entry in Square’s Disney crossover franchise.

Kingdom Hearts 2.8 includes 0..2 Birth By Sleep, a short Kingdom Hearts story that lets player collect decorations and customizations for protagonist Aqua- in other words, character customization is finally featured in Kingdom Hearts. According to producer Tetsuya Nomura, this feature might actually make it into Kingdom Hearts 3 as well.

“We knew we could insert that feature into the game this time, but whether or not we can with [Kingdom Hearts 3]…we have other priorities ahead of us so it depends on time, but we’ll look at the reaction with [Kingdom Hearts 0.2] and consider it,” Nomura said in an interview with Dengeki PlayStation (via Attack of the Fanboy).

Kingdom Hearts 3 is scheduled to launch on PS4 and Xbox One; Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8 will release later this month on PS4 exclusively.
