Kingdom Hearts 3 is Disney fans’ best opportunity to see all of their favorite Disney properties and content in a meaningful crossover game. Some of Disney’s most iconic properties figure in Kingdom Hearts games, and it’s always a big deal when a new, popular one is confirmed for inclusion in the series (such as when Frozen was confirmed for Kingdom Hearts 3).
One of Disney’s popular properties was the 1990s cartoon Gargoyles– it is one that has been missing from Kingdom Hearts, much to its fans’ disappointment. Unfortunately, if what Gargoyles co-creator & producer Greg Weisman said at MomoCon 2015 in Atlanta, Georgia is to be believed, then that is no longer going to happen.
“That’s been discussed, and I’d love it––it’s not up to me. […] When I knew people who were involved [that] tried to push it, there was a point where I thought we were getting close on Kingdom Hearts…and then the guys I knew who were working on it got fired,” Weisman remarked sadly. “I’d be very open to it, but obviously I don’t even work at Disney anymore.”
So… yeah, it was in the cards once, but now it doesn’t look like it will be happening, not for Kingdom Hearts 3, at any rate. Which is a crying shame.
