The last several years have seen Capcom relying almost exclusively on established IP such as Resident Evil, Monster Hunter, Street Fighter, and the like, so when the company does try experimental new IP on the rare occasion, it’s hard not to root for it. Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess saw Capcom doing just that upon its release last month, and it seems the action-strategy titlehas got off to a solid start.

Taking to Twitter, Capcom recently announced that Kunitsu-Gami has crossed 500,000 players worldwide across all platforms. It’s worth mentioning that this figure isn’t representative of the game’s sales, especially since it has also been available via Game Pass since day one of its release- though that’s an impressive player base to gather for a new IP within less than a month of its release nonetheless.

To commemorate this milestone, Capcom is also giving away several in-game bonuses to players in the form of Mazo Talisman: Jubilee, Dancing Crane, and Okami collaboration Mazo Talisman: Amaterasu.

In our review of the game, we awarded it a score of 8/10, saying, “Kunitsu-Gami is an intriguing action/strategy hybrid that provides consistently fresh gameplay and relaxing moments. If you’re not a fan of strategy or action games, I’d still recommend this game since it’s an experience that manages to transcend either genre thanks to its quieter moments.” Read the full review through here.

Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess is available on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
