It seems like something so obvious that I am genuinely surprised that it hadn’t happened yet- a LEGO take on Minecraft is now finally going to be a thing. LEGO Worlds was just announced today, and it lets players build entire game worlds in a digital space using LEGO pieces.
This would make it like Minecraft, and, given the sheer popularity and brand cachet of LEGO, it might actually make this game a legitimate competitor for Minecraft, especially since it seems to be pretty versatile right off the bat. It is currently available to play on PC right now, since it is on Steam in Early Access, for $15.
It is a little barebones as far as features go right now, though of course, that part makes sense, given the game’s Early Access status. More features, such as more building and manipulation tools, as well as sharing and editing functionality, is promised in future updates.
