Level-5 Boss Shows Up In Final Fantasy XIV Stream

Are Square Enix and Level-5 working together?

Everyone knows Level-5, of course. The Japanese company is known for its charming and classic games such as the Dark Cloud series on the PlayStation 2, the Professor Layton and Youkai Watch series on Nintendo’s handhelds, and of course, Dragon Quest VIII and Dragon Quest IX.

It’s that last thing that’s of particular note right now- Level-5 have worked with Square Enix before. They developed the two most successful Dragon Quest games, in Japan, and globally, for them. Therefore, when Level-5 President Akihiro Hino showed up in Square Enix’s newest stream for Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn, you couldn’t help but take notice. Yes, ostensibly, Hino was just there to promote the upcoming Youkai Watch 2 expansion on the 3DS- but could it be possible that Level-5 and Square Enix, two companies who have worked together on some of their most successful products in the past, could be working together again?

Could it be for Dragon Quest XI? Would that be for the PS4 (remember, there is supposed to be a new Dragon Quest game on PS4, and there is also supposed to be a Level-5 game for it), or, equally likely, for 3DS?

I don’t know, but just the thought of a brand new Dragon Quest game makes me giddy. Let me have it, Square Enix. Let me have it.
