Level-5 Will Announce a PS4 Game at E3 2015

They want it to be epic in scope.

Level-5 is one of the best Japanese developers- they’ve developed some highly memorable games over the years, including the Dark Cloud series for the PlayStation 2, Dragon Quest VIII and Dragon Quest IX, the Professor Layton series, Ni no Kuni, and their current money spinner in Japan, Yokai Watch. However, over the years, they’ve stuck to making games for handhelds, which has led to some disappointment among those who have wanted to see them tackle something as epic and ambitious in scope as their PlayStation 2 era games were.

Well, for all of you, there is some good news- it seems that Level-5 will be announcing a PlayStation 4 game at E3 next year. For all of you who’re not convinced- I mean, it could be a port or collection of their previous games, or just the announcement of a localization of a casual game that they have already announced for the PS4 in Japan- well, they have specifically stated they are looking at making something ‘epic, that exceeds the scale of White Knight Chronicles.’

White Knight Chronicles was a series of games that they made on the Playstation 3, which laid the emphasis squarely on networked play. The games were fairly poorly received, and, to be quite frank, bad. So let’s hope that Level 5 aims for a level of quality higher than either of those games, even if they are content with shooting for that kind of scale.
