Or something.

Square Enix has released a new trailer for the upcoming Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII and despite dubbing it “Special Effects”, we really have no clue what the point of it is. At least you can see Lightning rushing forward and seemingly blending from one outfit to another. Stay tuned till the end for all the main characters seemingly floating in mid-air, with a special appearance by Lightning’s sister Serah.

Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII is the third game in the saga and follows Lightning as she awakens 100 years after the events of the second game. She’ll have to halt an apocalypse that threatens to overtake the world, with a literal doomsday clock looming over here. You’ll have special powers that take advantage of time though, such as slowing it down to get an advantage on enemies.

Releasing soon in Japan, the game will be out for Xbox 360 and PS3 on February 11th 2014 in North America and February 14th 2014 in Europe.
