Though FromSoftware is taking a break from the Soulslike formula with the upcoming Armored Core 6: Fires of Rubicon, fans of the genre do still have plenty to look forward to. One particular upcoming title that has continued to look promising in all that’s been shown off so far is Hexworks and CI Games’ Lords of the Fallen, which we’ve now got another lengthy look at courtesy of a new extended gameplay presentation.

Plenty of the game’s dark fantasy environments are shown off across its semi-open world map, which, according to the developers, is a vast play space where each area will be interconnected with at least two others. Of course, thanks to Lords of the Fallen’s dual world mechanic, players will also be able to explore the realm of Umbral, the undead counterpart of the realm of Axiom. Each time you die in Axiom, you’ll be revived at that same exact spot in Umbral, where you’ll have the chance to make it back to the world of the living- though that’ll be easier said than done.

New details are also revealed on combat, which, in addition to using standard attacks with weapons, will also let you equip up to four magical or ranged abilities at a time, with particular emphasis being placed on combos and faster combat in general.

Meanwhile, Hexworks has also confirmed that Lords of the Fallen will feature uninterrupted co-op. At every rest spot – known as vestiges in the game – players will be able to summon a co-op partner, either a friend or a random player. After that point, the two of you can play together as long as you want, until one chooses to end the session.

Interestingly enough, using very rare resources, at certain spots in the world, players will also be able to create their own vestiges. Check out the presentation below for more details.

Lords of the Fallen launches on October 13 for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
